Arisrv Meet: end-to-end encrypted meetings

1 min readBy Arisrv

Arisrv Meet encrypts audio, video and screen sharing end to end in supported browsers and in the Windows app, so our media servers forward only data they cannot decrypt.

How the encryption works

The meeting key travels in the part of the invite link that browsers never send to a server. Audio, video and screen sharing are encrypted frame by frame before they leave your device, and our media servers only forward them. Chat, whiteboard and reactions inside a meeting are encrypted with the meeting key too.

Encryption is required by default: the web app will not join a meeting it cannot encrypt unless you change that in Settings.

Host controls

Hosts can use a waiting room, lock the meeting, and decide who may chat, share their screen or join as a guest. Only hosts can record.

Recordings, captions and summaries

  • Recordings are not end-to-end encrypted. The host's app records the meeting and uploads it to Arisrv, where it can be read by our servers.
  • Live captions in some browsers use the browser's own speech service, such as Google in Chrome.
  • AI summaries are created on Arisrv servers from the meeting transcript, and only when someone asks for one.

What our servers can see

Who is in a meeting, the meeting title, and when people join and leave.

Platforms

End-to-end encrypted meetings work in supported browsers and in the Windows app. The Android app is in testing and cannot join encrypted meetings yet, and iOS is not available yet.
